Our family just recently joined the Burke Mountain Young Naturalist Society and our first Explorer Day was a boat ride leaving from Rocky Point park in Port Moody.
We weren't sure exactly what we would see, but we were amazed!
We had no idea that there are harbour seals that lie on and swim by a nearby log boom that you can see from the pier.
We also had the opportunity to see a sea lion up close at the Barnet Marina. They have a few there that they are training and using for research.
The kids also got to do some hand-on exploration with various starfish and sea cucumbers.
This is a male and female Ossprey that have a nest at the end of the Rocky Point pier.
It was such a great day with so many exciting sightings. Looking forward to the next outing!
